Content Strategy
Jackson Weimer - Content Strategy
Case Study: The News Movement
Nov. 2022 - Present
While leading content strategy for
The News Movement, I treat social media
like a search engine.
Just like a traditional news room,
I surface and dig for new trends and stories that are getting people talking online.
I send daily insights emails and contribute key stories in morning meetings that inform the newsroom of trending topics.
We transform these into short explainers that capture search traffic and covert that
into new followers with our video quality.
I find that a quick informative hook combined with a specific hashtag strategy
really gives us the best shot at higher views.
Case Study: The Recount
Jan. 2023 - Present
The News Movement acquired The Recount
in the beginning of 2023.
Their audience was a combined 1.1M across platforms but was entirely too reliant on reposting other people’s content.
I focused the team on 3 new original formats that revitalized their dying accounts,
leading to record view numbers.
Format 1: Supercuts
By cutting a long event or video into a 1 minute
super cut of the best moments out of context, we saw this format consistently perform well and lead to our highest share ratio.
Format 2: VoxPops
We went out to the streets of NYC and talked to people. It’s the easiest trick in the book, and it works best when you make the hook
very easy to understand.
We have got over 15M views from VoxPops
since starting them in 2024.
Format 3: One Word
On VoxPop shoots, we would also ask
people to give us one word
to describe something relevant to our audience.
One of our most unique formats and it was our
highest new follower driver in 2024.
Case Study: Mr. Beast x ZipRecruiter
As a member of Mr. Beast’s
TikTok Ideation team in 2022, we were tasked with coming up with format ideas for
brand collaborations.
We worked on scripting collabs like this one with ZipRecruiter, SEGA, and Got Milk?
