Community Strategy
Jackson Weimer - Community Management
Case Study: Comment Moderation
I take a “less is more” approach
to The News Movement’s comment sections.
We do not allow our comment sections to
fester with racism/misogyny/homophobia.
I set up a rolling list of terms that we have
filtered from our community and when we
need to delete comments we acknowledge
our action in the comments.
Here are a few strategy documents that show
how we show up in the comments.
Case Study: Gamifying Engagement
If you love “Where’s Waldo?” then
you’ll love that I hide Wario in all of my
memes on my meme page, @hugeplateofketchup8.
Whoever spots where I hide Wario
first gets 1 point.
At the end of the month, I count up the points
and give the monthly winner a prize.
This has consistently boosted my content’s
chance to get on Explore because IG rewards posts with active comment sections
Competitions get intense and usually 10 or so people will comment in the first minute!
Case Study: Surfacing Micro-communities
For clients who are looking to reach newer and niche communities that are relevant to their brand, I do deep-dives on communities and find where people are talking about relevant topics in small but hyper active communities like Discord and Reddit.
Case Study: eBaum’s World Twitch Relaunch
In my first week at eBaum’s World,
during the height of March 2020, I relaunched
the company Twitch channel to create
a fake March Madness tournament.
We reached 4,000 unique viewers daily and got press in publications like PBS and The Washington Post.
